A few weeks ago I started to post photos from our day trip to Hakone. We made the trip using the Hakone Free Pass. The 2-day pass costs approximately $50 per person and included multiple forms of transportation and sightseeing.
- Train ride from Shinjuku to Hakone
- Hakone Tozan Train
- Hakone Tozan Cable Car
- Hakone Ropeway
- Hakone Sightseeing Cruise
- Bus ride back to the train station
- Train ride from Hakone back to Shinjuku
- The pass also included discounts to a number of attractions, museums, etc. in the area
It’s a good deal and makes sightseeing very easy!
We crammed all of our sightseeing into one day and it worked out well. Since we went on a weekend day in the fall, we spent a lot of time waiting in lines.
The first few pictures were taken from the Hakone Tozan Train.

We were crammed on the train, so I didn’t have much room to take photos. This was my view for most of the ride.

I love these…

Next up: Hakone Tozan Cable Car

What else is there to do when you are waiting in another line?

Next up: Hakone Ropeway

Once again, we had to wait in line…

The line continues…

It was finally time our turn to go for a ride…

It was definitely worth the wait. The views were incredible!

Hello down there…

Next up: Mt. Fuji! (You’ll have to wait for the next post.)
