Meiji Shrine Details

It’s always nice to walk around the Meiji Shrine when the crowds are relatively small. You can take your time observing some of the finer details at the shrine.

This is one of my favorite photos from the day. If only you could see and hear what was going on around this peaceful photo. Imagine the sound people clapping their hands together in prayer…imagine the sound of coins being thrown into the slatted wooden box in front of the man in prayer…imagine the sound of rock music coming from nearby Yoyogi Park…and (of course) imagine several people taking pictures.

I had to stand on my tip-toes to take this picture. I was definitely not born to be a ballet dancer!

The Meiji Shrine is surrounded by 175 acres of trees and open land. It’s nice to see nature in the middle of the city! People often come here to play games or to have a picnic.
